Mom Talk

It’s exhausting. It’s rewarding. Motherhood…it’s not for the weary. On second thought, I feel weary often. Any other mommas agree? My purpose of this post is not to complain or harp on the difficulties of motherhood, it’s to highlight the love within the everyday. I hope that by reading this you will feel comfort in knowing that I too struggle with feeling like I’m being the best mom I can be.

Motherhood is complex and has many different facets. Let’s just say it’s like a diamond. Bright, beautiful, and complex. Your relationships, kids, work, house, and community obligations all require your attention. If you stop and think about it, Mom’s have a lot on their plate. We hit the ground running everyone morning with breakfast, chores, and finding that exact purple car. Ya know, the one with the yellow stripe, not the white stripe. There’s a huge difference, Mom.

The beauty within the craziness is the love. I’ll admit yesterday was a really hard day for me. In fact, I cried three times. I just couldn’t seem to get control of my toddler, and I felt very, very defeated. In those moments, it’s hard to be unshaken. Every once and a while you have a bad day. Maybe things were challenging at the office, you got into an argument, or your toddler had a melt down in the middle of the supermarket. Everyday is not easy, and sometimes you just have to shed a tear. After the storm settles, there is one thing remaining—the love. The simple, “I love you mommy” or a little hug can make all the worries of the day melt away.

So Mom, when you feel consumed with work, children, errands, and PTA meetings remember that your children love you. A lot! They look up to you. A lot! When things get hard take a deep breath and know that you’re capable. It’s ok to not have everything together, that’s where God’s grace comes into play.

Thanks for stopping by and I can’t wait to read your comments. All the power and grace to you Moms!

XO
